Note: This week, parents will be receiving Remote Learning Packets sent via Google link from Scottsdale Prep. Do not attempt this assignment until you receive the Remote Learning Packets (RLPs). Once you receive them, my Blog will parallel those assignments for this class.
Mon, 3-23-20 Assignment: Read Chapter 1 Section 1, "Astronomy The Original Science", pp. 1-3. Highlight main points in text; any color is fine. Tue, 3-24-20 Assignment: In the text of pages 1-3, complete the "Reading Checks", #1-7 in the margins. Wed, 3-25-20 Assignment: Complete Section on pg. 4, #1-6 (note, there is an answer key attached, but try to answer first without looking at key) Thu, 3-26-20 Assignment: Complete pp. 1-2 of Directed Reading A, questions 1-13. Fri, 3-27-20 Assignment: Complete pp. 3-4 of Directed Reading A, questions 14-25.

Greetings Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Spring Break and are doing well, and continue to do so as we begin a new journey working remotely. Please stay tuned as the logistics of remote teaching will evolve during the upcoming weeks. I will be communicating as usual through this Blog, but will also connect through emails when needed, and other venues that may be implemented. Stay tuned to any instructional emails sent from Scottsdale Prep. Mon, 3-16-20 (The activities listed below for this week are not required, but are recommended for fun enrichment exercises, so have fun with them!) Activity: Access and read the Griffith Observatory Sky Report (click on this link), and try to locate the following objects in night sky with a parent: Venus and the Pleiades just after sunset, and if you happen to be an early riser, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn just before sunrise, if weather permits. Read the weekly Sky Report for more details. If moon is observable, what phase is it in? Remember to never look directly at sun. Tue, 3-17-20 Activity: Same as above, but begin reviewing Glossary terms in Sky Report. Click on Schools tab in toolbar, then click on Teacher Resources, and finally click on Glossary. Try to learn 4 to 5 terms per night. Wed, 3-18-20 Activity: Same as above, but may be raining Thu, 3-19-20 Activity: Read New Sky Report, and continue with Glossary Fri, 3-20-20 Activity: Continue observing night sky, and reviewing Glossary Question: Can you describe the events occurring in photo below? Note: The links below, are for astronomy Power Points which will be addressed next week, but you may view them any time.
